Inktober 52 – Week 6 – Monster

Inktober 52 – Week 6 – Monster.
After last week’s disaster I need a good subject to get me teeth into, ‘Monster’ is the perfect subject for me.
I loved the classic horror movies and the classic horror actors: Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Sr and Jr and Boris Karloff. I decided to draw Boris Karloff in two of his most famous roles: Frankenstein and the Mummy and just because I love interesting facts, as you never know when it might come up in a pub quiz, I have two for you. The image we associate the most with Frankenstein didn’t come from the pages of Mary Shelley’s novel, but was actually created by Universal Studios with Boris Karloff in the lead role. They were so convinced that they were on to a sure thing, they copyrighted the image which used of all five elements of high forehead, scar, bolts in the next, jutting out forehead and green skin. Good job I draw in black and white! The second fact is that Boris Karloff’s maternal aunt was Anna Leonowens, whose name might not ring a bell, until I tell you that The King and I was based on her life.
Week 7’s prompt is ‘dragonfly’, so I’ve treated myself to some iridescent inks. Whilst I wait for them to arrive, I’m going to get on with a commission.
