Today’s Hug- 7th June 2020

With today’s hug I decided to try something different and draw with white pen on black paper. I kind of like the effect, but it doesn’t work too well for shading.
These beautiful birds are Egrets, in these particular cases Great Egrets. Their beautiful plumage were used in ladies hats in the 19th century and thankfully this was eventually banned. For a long time they disappeared from Britain, but have now started frequent wetlands in South Eastern England and East Anglia, however you won’t see them until about December / January times. I don’t know about anyone else, but lockdown seems to have made time fly. We are nearly at the longest day and we’re already half way through the year. If you haven’t already, it’s time to make a bucket list of things to do when lockdown finishes, so remember for December / January to go and spot some Egrets.
